WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY – September 10, 2026

Climb for LIFE – Creating Safe Spaces for Suicide Prevention

This campaign aims to inspire individuals to take action and prioritize mental health in their communities. On September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day, we will arrive at Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) in Nepal after a 5-day hike to the base camp at 13,550 feet. This journey, is a way to raise awareness for suicide prevention, share my personal story as a suicide survivor, and advocate for creating safe spaces where mental health can be discussed openly and without fear.

Through this campaign, we are advocating for a world where everyone feels safe to seek help and where mental health struggles are met with compassion and understanding. Every step we take in this journey is a step toward creating a world that prioritizes mental wellness and breaks the stigma around mental health discussions.

My Story

As a suicide survivor, my journey to mental wellness has been shaped by the struggles I’ve faced, the resilience I’ve built, and the support I’ve received. When I was on the verge of ending my life in depression, a divine voice intervened, that saved my life. That experience profoundly shaped my belief in life, its meaning, and its purpose. It inspired me to help others who are facing similar struggles.

This climb to Annapurna Base Camp is not just a personal milestone but a symbol of overcoming adversity and embracing the importance of mental health. It’s a way for me to honor that divine intervention and share the message that there is always hope, even in the darkest moments.

I am joined on this journey by my two teenage sons, as we embark on this mission not only to raise awareness but also to help them understand the importance of mental health and the value of creating safe spaces for people to talk about their struggles.

After my experience, I felt called to help others and took up a master’s in counselling to qualify as a clinical counsellor. On September 10, 2013, which is also World Suicide Prevention Day, I founded Olive Branch Counselling and Therapy Services, a family-centred psychology clinic providing support across all ages, with the goal of offering help to individuals facing mental health challenges. Today, I am also pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology, continuing my commitment to mental wellness and to helping those in need.
